About Photography by Keel
Kevin Keel has a bachelor degree in Business and Economics from the University of Michigan, a Masters Degree from Kettering University and is a Certified Project Manager Professional. He taught Basic and Advanced photography and darkroom in the Flint area for many years and was privileged to work with several fine professionals to refine his technical skills early in his career. Kevin started photographing weddings professionally in 1986 because he loved photography as a hobby and was given an opportunity to put those skills to work. He soon realized however, that his style and approach to photographing a wedding was vastly different from many of his peers. When other photographers seemed to be going through the motions, Kevin was constantly looking for new and creative images. When others were curt and causing stress at their weddings, Kevin was having fun and promoting the naturally joyful spirit of the day. That same passion and craftsmanship are evident today and clients who work with Photography by Keel love the experience as much as they love their pictures. Kevin Christenson, our contracted 2nd wedding photographer, is the owner of DX Photography and Digital Imaging Services. Kevin has a Bachelor's degree in Electrical & Computer Engineering and a Master's degree in Operations Management from Michigan Technological University. He has also completed all coursework for a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering at the University of Michigan, and is a Certified 6-Sigma Black Belt. He has taught several courses in beginning and advanced computer programming, as well as conducted several seminars on the merits of Digital Photography. Kevin has over 15 years of photographic experience and in 1995 became an early adopter of High-end Digital Photography. Since that time, Kevin has excelled in the areas of digital workflow, image manipulation, and special effects photography. In addition to traditional wedding photography, Kevin’s concentration is photojournalistic coverage of weddings, as well as other non-traditional forms of photography such as infrared, and the digital darkroom. Having Kevin at your wedding celebration is our way of ensuring that you will have the absolute best possible selection of unique images that truly capture the spirit of your day.
Our Format
After shooting medium format film exclusively for more than 15 years, Photography by Keel converted to 100% digital imaging in 2004. Even though digital was a popular medium for many years before this, we delayed making the transition until we were convinced that our customers would not see degradation in the quality of their portraits. With ever improving quality and reliability of the technology and more data available regarding the medium however, switching to the digital format has actually allowed us to surpass the quality of work that we once considered supreme.
Our Location
Photography by Keel specializes in working outside of the traditional studio to create dramatic and creative images on-location. We are located in Lapeer County and routinely work throughout Middle and Southeast Lower Michigan without charging additional costs to our clients.
