Kevin Keel earned a bachelor degree in Business and Economics from the University of Michigan, a Masters Degree from Kettering University and is a Certified Project Manager Professional. A classically trained photographer, Kevin taught Basic and Advanced photography classes and darkroom for several years in the Flint area and began to photograph weddings professionally in 1986 as an opportunity to put his technical skills to work. He soon realized, however, that his style and approach to wedding photography was vastly different from many of his peers. When other photographers seemed to be going through the motions, Kevin was constantly looking for new and creative images. When others were curt and causing stress at their weddings, Kevin was having fun and promoting the naturally joyful spirit of the day. In 2004 Kevin moved to Metamora, Michigan and reestablished Photography by Keel based on the same principles that allowed PBK to thrive in Flint. That same passion and craftsmanship are evident today, and clients who work with Photography by Keel love the experience as much as they love their pictures. Kevin Christenson: Kevin Christenson, our contracted 2nd wedding photographer, is the owner of DX Photography and Digital Imaging Services. Kevin holds a Bachelor's degree in Electrical & Computer Engineering and a Master's degree in Operations Management from Michigan Technological University. Kevin has also completed all coursework for a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering at the University of Michigan and is a Certified 6-Sigma Black Belt (Quality engineer…not kung-fu!). Kevin C. has taught several courses in beginning and advanced computer programming and, with over 15 years of photographic experience, was an early adopter of High-end Digital Photography. This combination of experience and technical know-how led to him becoming a respected speaker where he has conducted several seminars on the merits of Digital Photography. Kevin excels in the areas of digital workflow, image manipulation, and special effects photography. In addition to traditional wedding photography, Kevin’s concentration is photojournalistic coverage of weddings, as well as other non-traditional forms of photography and the digital darkroom. Having Kevin C. at your wedding celebration is our way of ensuring that you will have the absolute best possible selection and variety of unique images that truly capture the spirit of your day.

What to look for in your wedding photography team: Obviously I encourage you to hire a photography team for your wedding. When looking for that team, I encourage you to ask questions about what the second photographer really offers to your wedding. Is this person a friend or relative of the owner who is there because of convenience? Has the second photographer received formal training in photography or is he learning on your wedding? Does the second photographer offer anything more than the ability to be an assistant to the owner and provide a few snapshots of his own? At Photography by Keel your second photographer is a trained, seasoned professional who is 100% capable of shooting anything that is required of him on your day. I wouldn’t trust anything less for your wedding.
